You might have seen this type of stone in some of our photos or elsewhere already. These stone landmarks are called Inuksuk and they can be found everywhere throughout Canada.
In fact, officials in lots of parks have to routinely dismantle the inuksuit built by campers, as they could misdirect hikers from the real markers that indicate the trails. In some provincial parks, notices are issued urging people to “stop the invasion” of Inuksuit.

Back in the distant days of early nineteen eighties – when I was a mere cut of a lad of twenty-one – for the want of nothing more than curiosity, I moved from Ireland to London. Whilst there I indulged in all the artful playfulness a twenty-something, young fellah might find in one of largest cities on the planet, and did so until a mistaken belief in the seriousness of life caused me to settle back to Ireland a matter of eight short years later.

Last night I dreamed I flew back to Cape Town. From the Victoria and Albert Waterfront, the view of the unique, flat-topped Table Mountain is unrivalled. As I stood with my Canon G11 point-and-shoot, I just could not stop snapping away. Cape Town has it all: the mountain looming majestically over the city; the ocean; the sandy beaches; excellent and well priced restaurants with an astonishing range of cuisines; beautiful wine farms where one can taste and buy some of the best wines in the world.
